Who do you see when we look into the mirror?
[A note that I wrote to a friend young.]
The person we see in the mirror is what we will become. It is the person with whom we defend and persevere.
If you don’t see someone with a lot friends, every time they come along, you’ll find a way of disengaging yourself from the pain of being rejected.
You can see if someone is unhappy with inputs they don’t control. Then, when new inputs arrive, you will find something wrong with them.
You will see someone who thrives when faced with challenges.
Every day offers us the best chance to see another person in the mirror.
The chance to alter the stories we tell about ourselves.
It is rare for planes to crash. It doesn’t really matter. Turbulence doesn’t have to be fatal. It doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter if you tell your own story about air travel. You can tell your story, and no one can take it from you.
Perhaps you’re homesick. It’s wonderful to be at home. It is wonderful to be at home. It is a sign you are missing home. Homesickness is a story that we tell ourselves about our identity.
But who can you be ? Who will you be?
You can be a better, more generous, happier and more connected person if you surround yourself with people who care about your well-being.
You can learn how to teach basketball to 8-year-olds right away.
You can lead if you desire to be a leader.
If you wish to.
Because you are smart and caring. Because you have people who care about you.
The best way to honour those people and yourself is to be the person you were meant to be.
If you wish to.
This is the best time to start that journey. It will get harder if you wait.
