altar Spotlight: Meet Todd Seehase //
GBC credit team member Todd Seehase, a SVP at GBC, has found his niche in non-bank ABL environments with a passion for customer service and creative, flexible lending solutions.
Todd’s decades-long experience in traditional banking has allowed him to use his lending expertise to help clients benefit more from flexible financing. Todd shares his 2.5-year experience in the GBC environment and what he thinks clients get from GBC’s approach.
How did your journey to Gibraltar lead you to the Gibraltar team?
My 30 year career has taken me to roles at regional and national banks. These included middle market commercial banking, leveraged loans, and asset-based lending. I have worked at National Bank of Detroit and Sterling National Bank. As an Account Executive, I manage portfolios and underwrite for the GBC credit team. I wanted to use my experience in an ABL environment that wasn’t bank-based, which was something I have enjoyed greatly.
What’s something that you are proud of at Gibraltar?
My first client, who was my very first at Gibraltar, was able to bridge GBC financing and a successful sale to a strategic buyer at high multiples. We were able to provide a flexible and collaborative partnership that allowed us to create a facility to suit their needs and assist them in their transition from operating losses into a successful turnaround. These are the stories that make us do what we love. Gibraltar’s team received high praise from the customer’s executives, who attributed their success to our partnership.
What is unique about GBC from your point of view?
GBC has worked in many banking environments and focuses on creating smaller teams that are more responsive to customer needs. We don’t believe in a one-size fits all approach to lending and can tailor our deals to each situation. GBC has developed a flexible financing model that can adapt to today’s changing market. This is different than many other lending environments.
What is the most rewarding thing about working for GBC?
GBC’s leadership emphasizes a team approach. This is a culture everyone strives for. Our team works well together, and we have a collaborative mentality that allows us to find win-win solutions. Gibraltar’s employees are respectful of each others’ opinions and take a new approach to their working relationships. After working in a structured environment, I have appreciated the freedom to think outside of the box and bring new ideas to the table.
What do you love doing with your free time?
Outside of work, I love spending time with family and friends. Our family continues to grow — my son was recently married, and my daughter was engaged to be married next January.
What’s your year ahead?
My wife and I are looking forward to travel with her and help my daughter plan their wedding. I am also excited for warmer weather to allow us to resume outdoor activities that we love.
