will delete your data
These rules are fairly consistent:
- It is easier to save and create a video or any other file than it is to lose it or make it corrupt.
- Data that is more valuable than others is more likely to be lost.
- It will be more difficult to replace it, which is why it will be frustrating.
Now, we’re all creators. We’re all creators now.
Software companies that make the tools we use push their developers in many ways. But they don’t create resilient storage systems that will honor all the work and care that you put into creating it. Although they want you to believe they can seamlessly and effortlessly maintain all your data, they spend most of their time focusing on things they consider more important commercially.
This is because flashy, convenient and viral are more lucrative than reliable and resilient.
After a conferencing app lost the video I had recorded so hard, I realized I was wrong to trust them. There is a 1 in 1000 chance that a file will be lost or corrupted. It’s better to store it in 2 places, or to record it simultaneously in 2 systems. This reduces the chances of it happening to you. They are not trustworthy and I won’t trust them again.
It is best to be prepared. It’s possible that the software company isn’t as concerned about your work, memories, or reputation as you are.
