ys that VideoAmp has created a culture of bragging //

C5 offers the opportunity to see the inner workings and innovations of some of the world’s most innovative tech companies. We get inspired by our partners and also get their creative ideas. VideoAmp is one of our most inspiring partners, especially when it comes their culture, over the past 4 years.

Michelle Kim, VP of Brand Design at VideoAmp joined us recently on the Best Story Wins Podcast to discuss the way that their team approaches culture and marketing. The conversation reminded us how amazing their culture is. We’d even say that we have developed a little culture crush over the years we’ve been working together. And we are not alone. AdAge named them the best place to work in 2022. )

Since we are advocates of building a better company culture (no mater your industry), after our conversation, we went back to Michelle and asked her what makes VideoAmp such a great company–and how we can learn from it.

Five Things We Love about VideoAmp

VideoAmp’s brand store and attitude are both top-notch.

Their Attitude

We have worked with this team for several years and can say that they are great partners. This is largely because of their attitude. Michelle attributes the disposition of her team to their core values.

  • Humilityspanstyle=”font weight: 400 ;”>”Each person approaches their work with a willingness to learn and grow, which requires humility,” Michelle says. VideoAmp is a fast-paced company, and team members must be humble to learn as they go. Michelle says that “it requires everyone to have a high level of agility, and you cannot be agile without humility.”
  • Honestyspan Style=”font-weight 400 ;”>”It’s important to empower every member to speak up, to give feedback freely and to raise any issues in an environment that feels safe,” Michelle says. This level of intimacy and trust will make team members more motivated and connected.
  • Michelle describes her approach to work as a creative problem solver. They are able, by viewing everything with a creative eye, to find better solutions for their customers and fun ways to connect their team.

Michelle points out that VideoAmp also has created an environment that is very welcoming, where employees are encouraged to bring their full selves to the workplace. Most importantly, this makes them feel respected and appreciated. Michelle says that “you can’t buy comfort like that”.

Their Brand Store

VideoAmp is known for its creativity and design. This is evident in the Drop Shop, their internal store, where they release limited edition merch, similar to streetwear brands. We are very proud of having helped VideoAmp bring the Drop Shop to life. )

The Drop Shop has a buzz like no other. While many companies will send you a keychain or bottled water, the excitement around this shop is unmatched. Each collection is designed beautifully around a specific theme and often influenced by a different aspect of the brand. As an example, the “Be Better” launch includes merch made from recycled materials and packaging that is sustainable, which encourages employees to improve themselves as well as the planet. Each collection is treated like an exclusive release, complete with promotional videos.

Each new drop has caused the company to buzz, as people are eager to get their hands the pieces. Michelle admits that Drop Shop costs money, but she believes that creating something that is so unique and tangible that creates such excitement is worth it.

3) The In-Person Events

There is something to be said about the power of in person hangs, especially in a world that has so many remote companies (C5 being one). A company the size of VideoAmp, with over 500 employees, is not going to always meet at the water cooler. VideoAmp puts on a big show at their annual HMCMNG retreat (aka Homecoming).

Each part of the event has been carefully planned, right down to the smallest detail. When they took over Miami’s famed Fontainebleau Hotel last year, everything was included, from Art Deco drink toppers to mobile apps, creating a fully immersive event that brought their people together (aka Vampers). The level of detail and thought that went into their annual event makes it a memorable experience.

4) Commitment to Well-Being

VideoAmp is a company that weaves wellness throughout their entire business. The company’s “embrace wellbeing” value is woven throughout the entire organization, from their on-site fitness center to the fitness challenges offered at HMCMNG.

VideoAmp’s concept of wellness goes beyond the on-site trainers and ice baths (which are great, by the way). Financial wellness programs are available to help employees plan for their future. Modern Health is one of the services they partner with to support mental health. New parents are entitled to parental leave at full pay so they can focus on the things that matter most. They also support employee wellness by providing extra training and courses that help them develop crucial skills.

Michelle explains that spanstyle=”font weight: 400 ;”>”It is a multi-pronged strategy to create a holistic approach for employee wellbeing.

5) They support employee passions

We have personally discussed why we support C5ers in their side hustles and passions. We think this is a sign that a work environment is healthy and secure. VideoAmp agrees with our opinion, believing that employees who are passionate, happy and whole are the best employees.

They don’t suppress this trait because they attract high-performing employees with ambition. These employees are encouraged and coached, so they tend to stay longer. Michelle’s passion is creating coffee table artist books and her fellow Vampers support her work outside VideoAmp. )

The entrepreneurial spirit of VideoAmp employees is celebrated in the VideoAmp Employee Seriesspan size=”font-weight 400 ;”>,, where Ross McCray, Cofounder and CEO, talks with rockstar VideoAmp staff who have followed their entrepreneurial dreams.
