I’ve worked hard to improve my juggling skills (actual juggling and not metaphorical juggling).
As I explained in The Practice, the secret is not in the catching, but rather the throwing. The catches will be easy if you can get your throws right.
It is easy to concentrate on throws, but it’s culturally challenging: Errant throws do not earn a lunge.
Drop them.
Just stand and watch the drops.
The problem was not that you did not lunge. Your throws were not accurate.
This is a difficult thing to do at work. Heroic saves are rewarded at work. Heroic saves can undermine efforts to improve systems.
It might be worth closing down the whole plant if the system fails.
