: Errors & Productivity

It’s important to consider what we mean when we say ‘productive’.

In some areas, reliability is critical. Building an aircraft that is reliable 95% of time is much easier than building one that doesn’t crash. I think that we are all happy with the standard of ‘never crash’ for aircraft.

A book with a few Oxford Commas missing can still be a life-changing read or win a Pulitzer.

We can make almost anything reliable if we have enough time and money. But should we do it?

What is the value of a pickleball that is perfectly round?

It is not the right question to ask: “Is this perfect?”

It is better to ask: “Does the product meet the specification?”

If you are not satisfied with the specification, then change it. Once there is a specification, it’s good enough.
