Two reasons exist for not learning a new technology that has been proven:
You don’t want to use it because you know how it will affect your life.
You’re not sure what it can do, and you’re not interested in finding out.
Kevin Kelly pointed out that there are many Amish communities in the first group. They choose a few members of the community to be nerds, who will try out new technologies and then report on how they have changed their family and their focus. They often choose to avoid things that are perceived as being counter to their goals.
Social media, on the other hand makes many people unhappy.
Knowing before deciding is better.
