Trade should be between the blacksmith and baker. The baker can make bread faster than the blacksmith. And the blacksmith’s productivity would be hampered if she stopped making horseshoes and rakes to put bread in the oven.
Everyone wins if someone can do their work efficiently and you can trade your work to them. Even if you have to use cash, it works. You can sell your services to someone, or you can use the cash to purchase something from someone else.
Yet, many freelancers struggle to trade. We believe we should take on every job. This is not only unproductive but it also reduces the magic that we have to do the work we are the only ones who can.
