You might have noticed that you often find the right place when you look for it. Because you stop looking after that.
When we are at the end, we find the relief just in the right time. This is largely because if you give up before it arrives, it will never arrive, and because we can likely stick with things longer than we would like.
It’s not as productive to wait for the hero who will save us in time. We have the ability to give up when it makes financial sense (ignoring sunk cost) and to dig deeper when it is really important (recognizing that it may not work).
It’s worth celebrating when help arrives just in time.
