Pronunciations are becoming more frequent than ever.
It could be an insurgent who announces a way for the government to be changed, a CEO with bold plans or an entrepreneur looking for funds. Perhaps it’s a pundit, a critic or someone hard at work. Although pronouncements can be bold, decisive, and dramatic, they often seem to defy common wisdom.
Perhaps you could answer these three questions if you are proposing something practical and thoughtful.
- What happens next? What happens after we take these actions? After you have closed down the agency, eliminated that division, or launched this new project, how will that affect your life?
- How does that work? What mechanics are involved? Which laws or organizational behaviours don’t have to be suspended in order for this new direction?
- Why? Could you explain, beyond your reality-spending confidence, how the system will respond?
This could be the change we are looking for and the change that will make our lives better. If the pronouncer refuses answer, it should give us all pause.
