Performance is the thing your product or service does. It’s composed of two components.
-The story, expectations, and cultural impact of your actions (the story).
– Deliverables objectively measured (the specification).
Both are good.
Many freelancers who work hard are confused about the truth of their story. They either insist their work is better than it actually is and are frustrated when other people don’t accept it or they underestimate the value of their presence, professionalism, and effort.
Many institutions, especially those that measure the wrong things put a lot of effort into their lab specifications, but neglect to invest in a narrative to encourage consumers to give them the benefit.
