When we use words such as “beautiful”, “stunning”, or “perfect”, we often mean “popular” and “pleasant.”
Each day is unique and beautiful in its own ways. Yesterday’s weather was good.
Hit songs are great. They’re not always perfect.
Pleasant is my favorite thing. Popular things are often what I like. Popular and pleasant are easy, risk-free and convenient.
On the other hand, the extraordinary can be difficult. It can be challenging, transformative, and risky all at once. It is possible to create beautiful things, but it is also a choice. Most of the time we are just looking for pleasant ways to be popular.
We shouldn’t settle for the ordinary if we love it enough to make it beautiful.
