There have been forces that disrupt our civic systems for centuries. It’s much easier now to spread a story about something that never happened thanks to AI and digital deepfakes. An interview that was never conducted, a speech that was never delivered.
Before mass media, citizens only had the firsthand experiences and the rumors. They were sometimes true, but not always.
Most of us will be surprised at how easy it is to invent and spread lies. This will require a completely new way of looking at the world.
We should not be fooled by April Fools every day from now on.
