Understanding that contracts are important is a fundamental building block for civilization.

It doesn’t matter where you are on the political spectrum (from Alinksy and Mises), it is possible to understand that things work better when the boss, vendor, client, and freelancer all do the same thing. No matter who has more power, or how much clout they have, it doesn’t matter what time of the day.

Con artists and hustlers can try to obscure the discussion by adding in irrelevant and emotional arguments. But we can return to a simple understanding: Two independent entities can legally transfer assets or effort without harming any other entity. This agreement should be honored.

Although it is a moral obligation, it is also one of the best ways to ensure that things continue to work over the long-term. People and organizations in power can choose to not honor an agreement or contract, even though it was there centuries ago.

Theft is the act of stealing time, labor, or any other irretrievable assets. Theft is not a sustainable way for a society to grow.
