altar Business Capital names Jim Marasco as Head of Originations
Gibraltar Business Capital, proudly announces that Jim Marasco is joining GBC as the Head of Originations. Jim is a highly respected senior executive who has served on GBC’s Board of Directors.
Jim has spent more than 30 years with Wells Fargo Capital Finance, its predecessor Foothill Capital Corporation and in his last position, he was the Senior Managing Director, National Head of Originations. Jim is an expert in secured and asset-based loans, leveraged financing, transaction sourcing, and portfolio management. He has extensive experience leading teams in underwriting, loan syndications, and bank products. He played a key role in driving Wells Fargo Capital Finance’s growth through his work on developing innovative products, expanding the firm’s geographic footprint and establishing its robust sponsor coverage.
Jim served as a member of Wells Fargo Capital Finance’s senior credit committee, which included the ABL, specialty businesses, (including Technology, Retail, Lenders, Healthcare and International Finance), and its ABL. Jim served on the firm’s administrative, operating, and management committees, giving him a deep understanding of all aspects of the firm’s operations.
Jim’s experience at Wells Fargo Capital Finance working with GBC chief credit officer Jeffrey Stanek will help Jim and his GBC team to transition smoothly.
Jim’s new role will see him leading a team that consists of highly-skilled originators who are responsible for finding creative and reliable solutions to finance lower middle market businesses across the U.S. He has extensive experience in distressed, turnaround and special situation credit across a wide range of industries.

Jim received his accounting degree from Michigan State University/Eli Broad College of Business. He began his career as an asset-based lender at GE Capital, before joining Foothill Capital Corporation 1989.
Jim’s inclusion in the Gibraltar Business Capital leadership team further positions the organization to continue success and innovation. Gibraltar has recently expanded their financing capabilities through an up market expansion. They also launched a brand new equipment finance company, Gibraltar Equipment Finance in the last month. Gibraltar Business Capital, a portfolio of Hercules Capital, Inc., a multi-billion dollar specialty financing company, was launched in the last month.
