“And” fatigue

The digital abundance has created a new issue.

The majority of our lives is filled with “or” choices. You can choose between this and that. You can either save up for the big event or go out to lunch. Dessert can only be cake or fruit.

The war for attention has led to a plethora of options, including a million videos on YouTube, a million songs on Qobuz and unlimited binge-watching on dozens streaming channels.

No and. or.

It means that the consequences of your choices are less severe. Time is less important, and it just fades. It turns the relief of choice to the borderless exhaustion of “whatever”.

It may be a good idea to make a decision even if it is possible to avoid it.
