The mainstream is no longer relevant, and you can immerse yourself into any belief. You can find people who believe that birds don’t exist, or a group that will confirm that the medicine you are taking is effective. This will enhance the positive placebo effect.
Belief can increase the effectiveness of our practice. However, promoting an idea may also bring in a profit to the promoter. Sometimes these two things are in sync, but the profit motive can push them out of alignment.
Now more than ever, our choices of media and cultural inputs are important. We choose our future when we decide what we watch and who we hang out with.
