Adam Smith and Karl Marx wrote about the pin making machine. Pins (to hold shirts, hats in place, etc.), which were used to fix hats and shirts, were very expensive not so long ago. They were extremely expensive. A handmade pin could cost as much as a lunch.
This was changed by the pin-making machines. The pin-making machine transformed the work of four workers trained to 20 pins per day into 10,000.
These devices are a must-have if you want to create pins in a productive way.
The industrial productivity increases, then levels off or ebbs. The inclined plane. The shovel. The assembly line. The computer chip. Robots…
Some people claim that it won’t rise again when it reaches its level. It does.
Even the free tools are often overlooked or misunderstood because they are so powerful, diverse and complex. We are too busy working to accomplish much.
We end up using the sexiest and most convenient tools, like the smartphone on which you are reading this article. But we don’t spend the hours or even days necessary to improve our productivity by implementing desktop tools and AI.
Finding better tools is usually a better option than working harder.
